Sweet Little Lap Desk

I've been working on this Sweet Little Lap Desk to sell in my booth and
now I'm having a hard time parting with it!   It was a Goodwill find from about a year ago,
left sitting in my stack of things to make pretty.

It was dark green, from the 70's, I think, because it also had a mushroom painted on the front. It was lined with green and yellow plaid fabric. I didn't take before pictures, sorry. (It was quite ugly anyway - you didn't need to see it!)    I used an applique from Do It Yourself Chic.  They are so easy to use.
I love love love  how it turned out.

I used Mod Podge to apply beautiful scrap book paper to the inside
and then added the very cute little faux lock.

Do I keep or sell it?  Decisions, Decisions.

Early Autumn Leaves in Colorado

"Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree."  Emily Bronte

Most people I know go to Vail or Breckenridge Colorado for the snow and skiing.  I go in the fall for the breathtaking views of the turning aspen trees.

My Sweet William and I took a long drive through our mountains last weekend.

We drove along Highway 24 through Leadville and Minturn on our way to Vail.

A little road construction detour lead us along an old highway lined with Aspen.
 It was simply breathtaking.
Back on to the main road again you could see the patches of yellow in the hills.

Somewhere between Leadville and Minturn we just had to pull over and enjoy the scenery.

Please enjoy it too.... I'll be quiet.

The reflection of the trees made the water look golden too.
I love fall, this place took my breath away.  So much to behold...

Natti's Place: A Teeny Model

Check out my daughter's blog - she loves to crochet and is sharing her creations on her blog!

Natti's Place: A Teeny Model: This is my niece Analie. She was born on May 7, 2012 and became my crochet model 3 days later. I know that's a bit soon, but she looked so ...

Jesus, the True Vine

(Internet Photo)
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

(Internet Photo)
"Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.  John 15:1-8

Fall Banner swap

Fall Banner Swap

I participated in a FALL Banner Swap hosted by Deb at Garage Sale Gal.    My partner was Dianne from Utah.    She stuffed a box full of great fall items and made the awesome banner that is now hanging on my fireplace mantel
It is so wonderful.   (I'm afraid the banner I sent to her pales in comparison!)
Look at the stitching detail on this.
I think this looks great on my mantel - like she knew!
She even sent this Autumn Blessings scarecrow that I have already hung on my
front door to greet my guests.

Also in the box (that I immediately tore into like it was Christmas or something!)
was all of this neat stuff.   Espresso cups and saucers, a box of variety of teas,
a painted rock and a bag of stamping stuff that she put together.

There's also two beautiful orange towels, you can see a part of them here.
She even included my initials on the stamp bag tie. So cool!
You can see the bag of carmel apple filled candies has already been opened!
   Love this new Werther's flavor.
THANK YOU, Dianne!  I love everything you sent.   Dianne doesn't have a blog so I'm sharing what I sent to Dianne here.

Here is the banner I made and sent to Dianne.

I filled her box with ceramic pumpkins, fall themed stickers, a Colorado Mug and Apple Cider.  I also sent her some Bronco socks!  She said that she loves that it is football season and I'm a Bronco fan.  I don't know if she is...
Sorry about the dark pictures.    Dianne likes Carmel Apples so I found a Carmel Apple scented candle to send to her.  I included some pretty kitchen towels and a bag of Werther's Carmel Apple filled candies.  (She sent me some too!)
Since Dianne likes Thanksgiving as much as I do, I included an amber glass deviled egg plate.  I have one that I use every Thanksgiving and really like how it goes with the autumn colors.

And lastly, I put as much of this as I could in a basket that says Autumn Blessings - like the scarecrow she gave me.   Isn't that something?

I had so much fun putting this together for her.  I can't wait for the next swap.

Thank you Deb for hosting this fun event and Happy Fall!

30th Anniversary Hike!

August flew by!  We had an eventful month that started with our 30th anniversary.   I really really wanted to go to PEI, but we just couldn't make that happen right now so we settled for Glenwood Springs, CO.    We live in such a beautiful State.
My sweet honey and I decided not to go shopping while in Glenwood and opted for hiking instead.  Can you believe it?   We hiked up to Hanging Lake.  These are some of the pictures that I took along the trail.   This trail is the only way to get there.   It is 1.2 miles from the trailhead to the lake.  It is all uphill - 1000 ft incline -
there were spots that I almost gave up - like this one!
This is last part of the hike, at the top of these stairs

You can see the canyon.   So Beautiful.
Still have to climb a little bit higher and then
you're there.  And so were about 100 other people!  I couldn't believe it.   Where did they all come from?  I didn't think that many people passed us on the trail.

After resting a little while, we hiked up a little further to Spouting Rock.   The water looks like it comes right out of the rock.

We don't hike very often, so after this hike all we could do was lay around and watch tv!  It took a lot of effort to get up and go to dinner that night.   The hotel we stayed at did not offer room service otherwise I would've ordered in!

Here's the proof that we did it!  What a hot mess!  And what a way to spend a 30 year anniversary!  Love you Honey!
